It's Gonna Take Some Time

Well this is how the story begins
A small town mind placed in the big city
She grew up with guys on her mind
and with a dream that one day she'd be known as one of a kind

And Mamma said,"Oh baby, why are you so anxious, you're just 10..." "I know, I know... It's just who I am."

You see,  Mommy and Daddy never seemed related
And brother and sister were on a plane of their own
So I ventured off into my own creative mind
Singing songs to me, myself and I
to me, life was sweet and kind, but I was a kid at the time

But, when daddy said,"I don't want to leave you", I smiled and stayed strong and said, "Daddy, Daddy, Daddy, don't you cry.
It's gonna be alright. It's just gonna take some time
It's just gonna take some time."

So now Daddy's gone, he's moved out.
Mamma's trying her best.
God bless her soul, she never rests.
And Sister, she's busy reading every book she can get her hands on.
And brother, he's playing connect the dots on The SAT's
And I'm busy building up my plan and trying it out in my room

Writing songs, dreaming up stories, I'm playing to a packed house every night.
I know this is where I truly belong.

And even though Mamma believes in me, she still worries.
And that's ok, I stand tall and try to ease her mind and say,

"Mamma, Mamma, Mamma, don't you worry tonight. I know what I'm doing.
It's just gonna be just fine. It's just gonna take some time"

15 years have gone by
And now the family's  just fine
They've found their own place/ their own space
Just living their lives
And me, I'm still writing my songs, playing out
and making my life worth while.

But there are days when I get down, shout I want out,
and that's ok, That's why I take it day by day and this is what I say,

"Jenny, Jenny, Jenny, don't you worry tonight,
You knew what you were doing and that it would take some time.
So don't you worry tonight, it's just gonna take more time."
